How it works in Vietnam

In Vietnam the seller pays personal income tax and the buyer pays the registration fee. The contract must be notarised, and there may be a brokerage fee.

  • Primary market

    Buying a new home directly from the developer, usually an apartment.

  • Personal income tax on transfer

    A tax the seller pays when an individual sells a home, charged as a percentage of the sale price.

  • Notary fee

    The fee a notary office charges to certify the home sale contract, set in tiers by the contract value.

  • Brokerage fee

    The commission paid to a broker when a sale goes through, as a percentage of the price. The seller usually pays, and it can be negotiated.
